Dear Student,

It’s completely understood that exam season can be stressful and that you may have many questions, luckily, advice will be provided. Studying a week before your exam, gives you time to digest all of the information from your course. Additionally, moratorium will be a big help in your preparation. Moratorium is a period of time where no new information or work can be taught or given; it is a time purely for exam review. Although different people need different amounts of time to feel comfortable with the information(and ultimately you can decide how much time you need), reviewing a week ahead of time can never hurt, especially when you have a course worth of material to go over.

As for studying strategies, everyone has different ways of learning material, so it really varies from person to person. However, some standard strategies that are proven to help consist of study notes, cue cards, teaching a peer or family member, kinesthetic learning (if it is a science or interactive course), and if it is a math course, go back and do review questions from each unit. You can also walk around your house while studying, as this sometimes helps you associate a place in your house with the answer to a question. Other known methods, such as the traffic light method or blurting can also help with regards to memorization. Prioritize studying content that you don’t know over the things you do know. Make sure to carve out concentrated study times with scheduled breaks included. Repeat that cycle until you feel confident with the information. Overall, don’t procrastinate, and make sure you find a study strategy that works for you.

May the odds be ever in your favor,

Angel
